BYD 6DT25 Common Error Codes and Repair Measures

Basic settings: Shift to “N” gear, turn off the engine, wait 3 seconds, restart the engine, and let the vehicle idle for 4 mins.

Always check if the TCU software is up-to-date, it is highly recommended to do basic settings after software update.

Vehicle can be pushed to move), shift into “D”, check live data and confirm if the phycisial gear is in “D1”; (2.1 If the physical gear is “D1”), check engine RPM and input shaft 1 speed is in sync, clutch 1 position is greater than the half-clutch-poistion, sum of actuator 1 position sensor 1 and 2 is around 1400; if so replace transmission assembly, otherwise replace mechatronic. (2.1 If the physical gear is NOT “D1”), check gear systems and CAN system (wiring).
P1700Voltage too high1. Use a multimeter to measure the battery voltage, if the actual voltage is indeed too high, check wire connections between the battery to the engine, check TCU wiring and fuse.
2. Replace the battery and/or generator if needed
3. If all above had been down, replace TCU
P1701Battery voltage too low1. Use a multimeter to measure the battery voltage, if the actual voltage is lower than 10V, check wire connections between the battery to the engine, check TCU wiring and fuse.
2. Replace the battery and/or generator if needed
3. If all above had been down and have the following symptoms: engine cannot be started, turn on the headlights and AC unit, the battery voltage read from the multimeter is still higher than 12V, replace the TCU
P1702Sensor power supply voltage malfunction1. Read live data of the sensor, confirm if the voltage is in the range of 4.75V to 5.25V; if so, clear the error codes and monitor if the value goes out of range again.
2. Check if the battery voltage is normal (around 12V)
3. Check transmission wiring harness and fuse
4. Check connection to the engine RPM sensor (also check if the sensor is properly grounded)
5. Check connection to the direction sensor (also check if the sensor is properly grounded, remove the sensor, the voltage of PIN 1 to ground should be around 4.75V to 5.25V)
6. Read live data and confirm if the battery voltage is normal. If the battery voltage is normal, replace TCU
P1703Engine RPM sensor no signal1. Read TCU Engine RPM, compare with CAN engine RPM, if the numbers are close, clear the error code and monitor if the issue reappears
2. Check connection to the engine RPM sensor
3. Confirm if the distance between the RPM sensor and the sensing wheel is 1+-0.5mm
4. If all above are normal, and live data of engine RPM from TCU is still 0, consider replacing TCU
P1704Engine RPM sensor out of range1. Read TCU Engine RPM, compare with CAN engine RPM, if the numbers are close, clear the error code and monitor if the issue reappears

P1705Input shaft 1 speed sensor no signal1. Read live data of Input shaft 1 speed sensor when the vehicle speed is greater than 5KM/h, check if the value is 0. if the value is greater than 0, clear the error code and monitor if the issue reappears
2. Do basic settings of the clutch, check if the procedure can complete.
3. Inspect and clean the sensing wheels and input speed sensors for metal debris
4. If all above are normal, consider replacing TCU
P1706Input shaft 1 speed sensor out of range1. Read live data of Input shaft 1 speed sensor, normal readings should be in the range of 0 – 8000RPM

3. Use a multimeter, switch to current measurement, sensor pin 1 connect to 5VDC, pin 2 connect to multimeter positive, ground the negative end to vehicle ground, rotate the front wheel, current measurement should show 7 – 16mA; If current stays constant, the sensor is defective.
5. If all above are normal, consider replacing TCU
P170BClutch 1 sensor malfunction1. Read live data of “Clutch 1 position”, normal readings should be in the range of 100 – 1800.
2. Check push robs and their magnets for damages and contaminations
3. If all above are normal, consider replacing TCU
P170CClutch 1 gap too small1. Read live date of “input shaft 1 sensor speed” when the engine is on, clutch 1 position is at minimum, gear in “N”, check if the reading is close to engine RPM, if so, clear the error code and see if the code reappears
2. Read live data of “Clutch 1 min position” and “Clutch 1 half clutch position”, if “clutch 1 min position” is greater than “clutch 1 half position”, clear the error codes and see if the code reappears
3. Perform basic settings, gear in “N”, turn off the engine; wait 3 seconds; turn on the engine and wait for 5 mins). If the issue rappers, repeat the basic settings for 3 times, if the issue persists, replace the clutch
P170DClutch 1 slip1. Read live date “Clutch 1 half clutch position” , the value should be less than 1000; read “Clutch 1 max position”, the value should be greater than 1500. Clear the error codes
2. Test drive the vehicle and see if the error code reappears
3. Perform basic settings, gear in “N”, turn off the engine; wait 3 seconds; turn on the engine and wait for 5 mins). If the issue rappers, repeat the basic settings for 3 times
4. Drive the vehicle, check if “Clutch 1 position” is commonly at “Clutch 1 max position”). When Clutch 1 position equals “Clutch 1 max position”, check “Input shaft 1 speed sensor” and engine RPM, the code can appear when engine RPM is commonly greater than the value of “Input shaft 1 speed sensor” (meaning quick rate of acceleration may trigger this code)
5. Replace clutch
P170EClutch 1 temperature too high1. Consult the client of his/her driving habits; when doing frequent quick acceleration and/or slope start,the appearance of this error code is considered normal, simply clear the error code
2. Perform basic settings, gear in “N”, turn off the engine; wait 3 seconds; turn on the engine and wait for 5 mins). If the issue rappers, repeat the basic settings for 3 times
3. Inspect clutch and replace clutch if needed
P170FClutch 2 sensor malfunction1. Read live data “Clutch 2 position”, normal readings should be in the range of 200 – 1800.
2. Check push robs and their magnets for damages and contaminations
3. If all above are normal, consider replacing TCU
P1710Clutch 2 gap too small1. Read live date of “input shaft 2 sensor speed” when the engine is on, clutch 2 position is at minimum, gear in “N”, check if the reading is close to engine RPM, if so, clear the error code and see if the code reappears

2. Check “Oil Pump Starting Duty Cycle ” should be greater than 135, “Oil Pump Enable Information” should be enabled, and “Oil Pump Speed” should be 500-4500RPM
3. If “Oil Pump Starting Duty Cycle ” is greater than 0 and “Oil Pump Enable Information” is enabled but no “Oil Pump Speed”, check motor pin 1, 9 and 16 for 12VDC; if so, check TCU pin 17 for 5VDC (this pin is powered by motor pin 14). If 5V is not available, check wiring and motor.
4. If all above are normal, consider replacing mechatronic
