Step 1
There are 4 hooks on the mechatronic unit, make sure all 4 hooks are connected to the transmission. These hooks are connected to the shift forks, a mechanism used to change gears.
Step 2
All shift forks and their gear actuators should be in the centre position.

Mechatronic units with identification code up to L31B1137:

Mechatronic units with identification code from L31B1138 onwards:
